The Best Way to End Procrastination • Part II
Today’s message is part of an ongoing series to end procrastination. Here, you’ll utilize the slow, steady, and friendly approach. Explore, reflect, and act before reading the next post. It’s never about gathering information, it’s about taking little steps while being kind to yourself. Congratulations on the step you take today. You’re doing great.
The “P” in Procrastination is for preparation.
Prepare yourself for the journey of looking at procrastination.
What sits in your pile labeled “later”?
Draw a line between what you deliberately hold-off on with good intention, and what you deliberately hold-off on without good intention.
For example, there are certain things in your life you intentionally decide to address another day because they’re not yet ripe for change, e.g., not knowing what you want to say in a letter to a friend.
But then there are things that get moved to tomorrow without thoughtful intent, e.g., the stack of papers on your desk that you see but avoid.
Why do certain things get put off when it doesn’t save you any time or emotional reserve, in the long run, to put them off?
Write down what you think.
This is preparation for the journey ahead.
Easy to put off, but valuable to do.
PS. A good nearby spot to watch the sunrise every morning can do wonders for you if you tend to procrastinate getting up in the morning. Even when there’s only a sliver of color, it’s magnificent, and it sets the tone for a productive day ahead.
